What The Counterfeiters of Paris Is About
Le Dabe gave up the work years ago; he breeds horses in the tropics now and is a wealthy man. In his time he was the king of counterfeiters. When Paris calls him about a new job he says no, but the moment he hears the currency is the Dutch florin he agrees at once: he once printed hundred-florin notes and retired just as the note was withdrawn. He flies to Paris. The difficulty is that not everyone on the team can be trusted. Jean Gabin leads and Gilles Grangier directed. Michel Audiard wrote the dialogue, and that is where the real flavour of the film is.
