1st Kiss

After fifteen years of marriage Kanna and Kakeru have worn each other down; divorce has already been mentioned. Then Kakeru dies in an accident. Kanna unexpectedly finds herself in the past, just before the moment the two of them first met. She has a second chance in her hands without knowing what changing one thing will change. Directed by Ayuko Tsukahara, the film was written by Yūji Sakamoto. Time travel here is not a science fiction question; the real subject is how a marriage quietly runs out and when that started. Takako Matsu plays Kanna and Hokuto Matsumura plays Kakeru. The telling moves forward without falling into melodrama, and it dwells not on what comes after a loss but on the neglect that came before it.
