A Man for Burning

Salvatore is a man involved in politics. He returns to Sicily, where he was born. What he has in mind is to organise the peasants. He tells them to demand the right to plough their own fields. To do that they will have to stand against the mafia. His speeches stir the town up. The peasants, though, do not stand with him. Some are afraid and some do not believe him. Salvatore carries on for his own account. Nobody, though, is standing beside him. He is left to carry it on alone. The mafia marks him down as a troublemaker. Nobody in the town takes his side. The film is not telling the story of a hero. Gian Maria Volonté and Didi Perego appear in the ninety two minute film, an Italian production Vittorio Taviani, Valentino Orsini and Paolo Taviani finished in 1962.
