The documentary follows the life of the American academic Norman Finkelstein and the argument that surrounds him. Finkelstein is the son of a family who survived the Holocaust and a fierce critic of Israel and of American policy in the Middle East; his bid for tenure at DePaul University was refused. The film puts both those who support him and those who stand against him on the same screen, Noam Chomsky and Alan Dershowitz among them. Rather than stepping into the place of one side, the account shows how one academic’s speech turned into a matter in itself. The eighty four minute documentary by David Ridgen and Nicolas Rossier was completed in 2009.
