What An Episode in the Life of an Iron Picker Is About
Nazif keeps his family alive by collecting scrap metal. His partner Senada is pregnant, and one day she starts bleeding. At the hospital the doctors say she needs emergency surgery, but she has no health insurance card and the sum they ask is a fortune for this household, so she goes home. Danis Tanović filmed the real case by getting the Bosnian Roma family who lived it to play themselves: Nazif Mujić, Senada Alimanović and their daughters re enact their own week. Seventy five minutes leave no room for decoration. Berlin gave the film its Grand Jury Prize and gave Mujić the award for best actor.
