What Hell Is About

Sophie, Céline and Anne are sisters who barely see one another. Sophie knows her husband is cheating on her. Céline lives alone and looks after their ailing mother. Anne is involved with a married lecturer at her university. One childhood ties all three to the same place: their father came home from prison, their mother would not let him in, he beat her and then threw himself out of the window in front of the girls. Years later someone turns up to say that what happened that day was not what they were told. Danis Tanović directs, adapting an unfinished trilogy by Krzysztof Kieślowski and Krzysztof Piesiewicz. Ninety-eight minutes, with Emmanuelle Béart, Karin Viard and Marie Gillain. The first film of the trilogy was made by Tom Tykwer.
