Edit grew up in a peasant family. She then married a politician. The marriage lifted her into another class. She never loved her husband. An accident kills him. She is a widow overnight. A wealthy house is left to her. Plenty of acquaintances surround her. Most of that closeness is false, and she is alone inside the house. Her life comes to a threshold. To go on she has to face her own past. What she is after is standing on her own feet. Mari Törőcsik, Kati Kovács and Lajos Balázsovits appear in the eighty one minute film, a Hungarian production Márta Mészáros finished in 1969.
