What Boy Meets Girl Is About
Leos Carax's first film, and the start of the Alex trilogy with Denis Lavant. Alex is a young man working towards cinema; when his girlfriend leaves him for his closest friend he begins wandering Paris at night with nowhere to go. Through a building's intercom he hears the voice of Mireille, who has just been left herself. Later they meet at a party. Black and white, leaning on silence more than on talk, and looking openly back at the New Wave. Carax was in his early twenties, and both the inexperience and the confidence show. Not for anyone after plot.
