What Brigham City Is About
In a small Utah town called Brigham, Wes Clayton is both the sheriff and the bishop of the local Mormon congregation. When a woman from California is found murdered the town shakes, and Clayton works the case with his young deputy and an FBI agent sent up to help. What the investigation turns up is not only a killer but how thin the trust between neighbours actually was. Richard Dutcher directs and plays Clayton, and is counted among the founders of a cinema that describes the Mormon community from inside. One production choice stands out: neither cast nor crew knew who the murderer was until the final scene was shot.
