By Sidney Lumet

The documentary takes up the work of the director Sidney Lumet in his own words. Its source is a five day interview recorded shortly before his death. Films such as 12 Angry Men, Dog Day Afternoon and Before The Devil Knows You’re Dead are gone through one by one. Lumet describes how he worked, what he did with actors and what he believed. The account adds no commentary from outside; it leaves the voice on its own. The difference between how a filmmaker sees his own work and how others see it stands inside the account. The hundred and three minutes are built around a single interview. Nancy Buirski’s American documentary was completed in 2015.
