Cemetery Without Crosses

Cemetery Without Crosses (Une corde, un colt), directed by and starring Robert Hossein, is a French-Italian western about a woman whose husband is lynched, and who turns to a lone gunslinger, her former lover, for revenge. The film was shot in Spain's Almería region; its score was composed by Hossein's father, the Iranian born composer André Hossein. Hossein dedicated the film to his friend Sergio Leone, who in turn uncredited directed one scene in the film, the dinner sequence where the Rogers family plays a trick on Manuel. While French critics were divided on the film at release, later reassessments have placed it alongside art westerns like Once Upon a Time in the West.
