Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion III - Glorification

The rebellion has grown and Lelouch can no longer stay hidden. Who he is comes out and the war becomes open. Britannia divides against itself; members of the imperial family are on different sides and Lelouch faces his own siblings. The power he uses lets him do anything, and the cost is paid each time by someone else. In the end he is caught inside his own plan. Goro Taniguchi directs. It is the last of the three films assembled from the television series of the same name. The trilogy does not simply repeat the series; events were changed and some passages redrawn. The purpose was to prepare the ground for the new film that followed, whose opening connects directly to this. The subject is the aim measured against the cost. Lelouch says he is bringing down an unjust order; the film asks what he is putting in its place. The limits of the Geass power determine the plot; which commands can and cannot be given builds the resolution of the last section. It runs about two hours and the whole of the series' final stretch is compressed into it; the pace is very fast. Who it is for: viewers of Code Geass and anyone who likes animation built on political fiction. Who it is not for: it cannot be followed by a newcomer, the transitions are abrupt, and there are many characters.
