What Dead Run Is About

Shuji and Eri are classmates, and both have trouble at home. That shared condition brings them closer. Then Eri is taken away to Tokyo by her relatives. Shuji grows more and more isolated at school. With no tie left to anyone, he begins to drift into crime. The film shows that slide not as a moment of decision but as a slow drift. What it does to a child to be left with nobody is the real subject. The hundred and twenty four minutes are given to that drift. Yuya Tegoshi and Hanae Kan take the leads, with Miki Nakatani and Etsushi Toyokawa also in the cast. SABU’s Japanese film was completed in 2005.
