What Unlucky Monkey Is About
The bank robbery goes wrong for Yamazaki, an amateur crook, and yet a string of strange accidents leaves him with eighty million yen. The money brings him no ease; while getting away he stabs a hairdresser by mistake and is instantly a hunted man. At the same time a reckoning inside a yakuza group is running through the same streets, and the two stories collide. The film builds luck, crime and coincidence into a black comedy in which nobody arrives where they meant to go. Shinichi Tsutsumi and Susumu Terajima appear in SABU’s hundred and six minute Japanese film; it was completed in 1998.
