What Drive Is About
Kenichi Asakura is a rule-abiding, tightly wound and thoroughly ordinary salesman. One day three bank robbers pile into his car and order him to chase down the fourth member of their crew, who has run off with the money. But Asakura will not go over forty kilometres an hour even in the most extreme circumstances; he takes his blood pressure pills, stops at red lights, and nobody’s shouting speeds him up. SABU builds this not as a chase but as a road movie made of odd events linked one to the next, and what the four men run into at each stop turns the story somewhere else. Shinichi Tsutsumi leads, with Ren Osugi, Ko Shibasaki, Masanobu Ando and Susumu Terajima. It is a comedy and also a story about being stuck.
