Déjà Vu

Dana runs a shop in Los Angeles. She meets Sean, an Englishman, and the two of them are bound to each other at first sight. But the timing is bad: Sean is married, and Dana is about to marry Alex, her business partner. Either of them could choose to stay inside their own life, or wreck all of it. The film delays the decision and draws its tension out of conversation. The account builds no grand gestures; what it describes is the hesitation itself. The hundred and seventeen minutes are compressed into a few days. Stephen Dillane and Victoria Foyt take the leads, with Vanessa Redgrave also in the cast. Henry Jaglom’s American film was completed in 1998.
