Detective Conan: Dimensional Sniper

A run of sniper attacks hits Tokyo. The victims look unconnected and the city is afraid to go outside. Conan examines the scenes; the ranges are very long and whoever is doing this has military training. During the investigation a newly opened tower, an American connection and an old incident come out. The FBI is involved too. Conan has to find the killer and prevent the next shot; the clues rest on ballistic calculation. Kobun Shizuno directs. Minami Takayama and Kappei Yamaguchi are among the voices. The source is Gosho Aoyama's comic series. It is the eighteenth feature in the series and took a strong result at the Japanese box office. The puzzle it builds is about distance and angle; the solution is given through calculation. The FBI characters come from the main comic and open a separate strand for those following the series. Its action sections are above the average of the series and the finale takes place in the tower. Its limit is independence; the relations between characters are confusing for anyone who does not know the series. Another limit is plausibility; the solution section is physically strained. Who it is for: followers of the Conan series and viewers who like Japanese mystery animation. Who it is not for: it is not an entry point, the plot is crowded, and the shape of the series repeats.
