What Distractions Is About
Life keeps interrupting, and so Mr Makkonen arrives at his own engagement party several decades late. Aleksi Salmenperä does not tie the idea to a single story; the film runs on ten separate sketches from cradle to grave, in which a tired mother, a superhero who is finished before he starts and various others are up against the same thing. It mixes comedy and fantasy with dark material, gets its laughs and then shows what the laughs cost. It was adapted from the Q Theatre play Häiriötekijä, which is where the episodic shape comes from. Tommi Korpela takes several very different parts in it and won a Jussi award for the work. It opened in Finland on 11 September 2015.
