Domestic Violence

The documentary was filmed in two places. One is the police in Tampa, Florida. The other is a shelter called The Spring. It is for women and children. It is the main shelter in the city. The camera goes with the police to the calls. The officers arrive at the house. They step in and try to settle what is happening. At the shelter the work is different. New arrivals are interviewed when they come in. Counselling sessions, anger management work and group therapy are all followed. Staff meetings and a separate programme for the children are shown too, and the film stays with both places at length. Frederick Wiseman made the hundred and ninety six minute documentary, an American production finished in 2001.
