What Eastwood Directs: The Untold Story Is About
A sixty five minute documentary that looks at Clint Eastwood as a director rather than as an actor. It uses clips, behind the scenes footage, interviews with people who have worked with him and Eastwood's own comments. Morgan Freeman, Gene Hackman, Kevin Costner and Kevin Bacon are among those who speak. What it is really describing is his working method and the kind of order he keeps on a set. Directed by Richard Schickel, it is a close portrait rather than a critical assessment, and it does not take up the objections that have been made to his work. That is worth knowing going in.
