Ek Je Chhilo Raja

The film is built on a real court case. It is known as the Bhawal sanyasi case. Mahendra Kumar Choudhuri was the middle prince of the estate. He fell ill with syphilis. He was taken to Darjeeling for treatment. He was said to have died there and his body was cremated. Twelve years go by. A sanyasi turns up at the gate of the estate. His face resembles the dead prince a little too closely. Rumour spreads around the district. People start saying the lost prince has come back. The matter is taken to court. The case drags on for years. The film moves through those hearings. Who is who stays in dispute right to the end. Jisshu Sengupta and Aparna Sen appear in the hundred and forty seven minute film, an Indian production Srijit Mukherji finished in 2018.
