Gumnaami

The film sets out the hearings of a commission. The commission is the Mukherjee Commission. The hearings were held between 1999 and 2005. The subject is the death of Subhas Chandra Bose. Three separate claims are on the table. The first is that he died in a plane crash. The second is that he lived on under the name Gumnaami Baba. The third is that he died in Russia. In the film a journalist argues the second. Facing him is a lawyer who argues the official position. The two of them come up against each other at the hearings. The account stages that argument. The hearings take place in a courtroom. Biplab Dasgupta and Surendra Rajan are in the cast as well. Prosenjit Chatterjee and Anirban Bhattacharya take the leads in Srijit Mukherji’s Indian film of 2019.
