Father Is a Bachelor

Johnny Rutledge is a man who settles nowhere. He drifts from town to town. One day he finds a cabin in the woods. Five children live in it. Their names are January, February, March, April and May. Their parents died some time ago. The children keep it from the town. They know they will be sent to a home if it gets out. They are afraid of being separated. They hide it above all from the young schoolteacher Prudence Millett. Johnny moves into the cabin. He passes himself off as their uncle. Meanwhile he grows closer to Prudence. To keep the children he has to marry. The film builds this as a comedy. William Holden and Coleen Gray appear in the eighty three minute film, an American production Norman Foster and Abby Berlin finished in 1950.
