Ruth Beckermann's 2024 documentary follows a primary school class in Vienna across three years. The district is among the most mixed in the city. İlkay, their teacher, tries to build a room in which everyone feels safe. The documentary shows how hard that is; shortages of resources, differences of language and administrative obstacles appear in turn, and the narrative proposes no solution. The camera stays inside the classroom and does not intervene. There is no narrator. The children are at the centre. Who it's for: those interested in education and migration. Who it's not for: viewers who want to be guided; the documentary settles for observation.
