What Freedom Downtime Is About
Eric Corley, publisher of 2600 and better known by the name he borrowed from Orwell, Emmanuel Goldstein, made this documentary about the imprisonment of the hacker Kevin Mitnick and the Free Kevin movement that grew around it. Along the way the crew drive across the country after the studio behind Takedown, a film they believe misrepresents him, looking for anyone who will answer for it. Shot on amateur video and loose in shape, it argues from the inside that hackers are driven by curiosity rather than damage, and that the sentence was out of all proportion.
