Full Throttle

Joe is one of the best motorcycle racers in Hong Kong. On the track and on the street alike, he thinks of nothing but speed. A crash stops everything: he and his closest friends are all badly hurt. As he recovers, Joe refuses to give up his identity as a racer and has to rebuild what is between him and his fiancée, his friends, and the father he has not spoken to in a long time. Derek Yee's Hong Kong film joins the action to an emotional drama. Andy Lau takes the lead, with Gigi Leung and Chin Ka-Lok in the cast. The racing scenes were shot ambitiously for their time and the film is remembered among Hong Kong cinema's motorcycle pictures. The telling does not glorify speed; it gives what it costs the same weight.
