What Lost in Time Is About
Siu Wai loses her fiancé Ah Man in a road accident. What is left behind is his minibus, his debts and his small son. Siu Wai takes on all of it; she gets behind the wheel and starts running the route. Dai Fai, one of the drivers who saw the accident, keeps helping her. He is living in the shadow of an old relationship of his own. Derek Yee's Hong Kong film is a quiet drama about grief and carrying on. Cecilia Cheung was named best actress at the Hong Kong Film Awards for the part, with Lau Ching-Wan and Louis Koo in the cast. The telling builds no great events and stays inside daily life. The minibus route and the night shooting are the texture of the film.
