What People's Hero Is About
Sonny Koo, who used to work for a gang, finds himself by chance inside a bank being held up by two inexperienced robbers. The robbery goes wrong, and before order can be restored Sonny takes charge. He uses the customers and the staff as leverage to get his girlfriend out of prison. Outside, a sympathetic policeman argues with his superior about how the situation should be handled. The film takes place almost entirely in one space and changes the distance between the hostages and those holding them as the hours pass. Ti Lung and Tony Leung Chiu-wai appear in Derek Yee’s eighty two minute Hong Kong film, completed in 1987.
