Roger Corman P Patricia King Hanson What Going Attractions: The Definitive Story of the American Drive-in Movie Is About
The documentary tells the history of the drive-in cinema in America. Drive-ins were at their most widespread at the end of the fifties, when there were close to five thousand across the country. Today the number has fallen below four hundred, though in recent years there has been renewed interest. The question the film asks is this: in a country that loves cars and movies, why did they not survive. April Wright takes that question to operators and to people from the film business. Archive images of hundreds of open and closed drive-ins are inside the account. Roger Corman is among those who speak. The eighty five minutes are spread over a long history. April Wright’s American documentary was completed in 2013.
