Hibiki

Hibiki, fifteen, has trouble controlling her feelings and a temper that spills over easily; nothing interests her except reading and writing novels. She joins the school’s literary club and meets Rinka, who becomes both friend and rival. She sends her manuscript to a literary magazine’s new writer award, but since it does not meet the entry conditions it goes straight into the bin, and everything changes when the editor Fumi spots it there and reads it. Sho Tsukikawa directed, adapting Mitsuharu Yanamoto’s manga, with Yurina Hirate as Hibiki. What makes the film interesting is that it treats talent not as a gift but as something that unsettles the person carrying it and everyone around her.
