What SPY x FAMILY CODE: White Is About
The feature film of the Spy x Family series. The series' premise: a spy has to build a fake family for a mission. The woman he picks as his wife is a secret assassin and the little girl he adopts can read minds. None of them knows the others' secret, except that the girl knows everything. In this film the family goes on holiday. Anya is after a recipe for a school competition and the business connects to a military conspiracy. The comedy always comes from the same place: nobody can tell the truth and everyone misreads everyone else's intentions. Anya knows the truth and, being a child, can convince nobody. It is not a continuation of the series; the story is built independently and does not connect to the main line. It opened in Japan at the end of 2023 and did strongly at the box office. An instalment to see in a cinema for followers of the series. For a viewer who does not know it at all, the characters are set up briefly, but most of the jokes are written for people who do.
