What Housekeeping for Beginners Is About
Dita never wanted to be a mother. After her girlfriend's death she is left with the woman's two daughters, tiny troublemaker Mia and rebellious Vanesa, and to keep the children she plans a paper marriage with the friend she shares the house with. It takes place in Skopje, in a crowded flat that fits none of the official categories. Goran Stolevski wrote, directed and edited it. It is neither straight drama nor comedy; it holds both registers inside the same scene and declares nobody the rescuer. It won the Queer Lion at Venice and was submitted as North Macedonia's Oscar entry.
