Hunted

Chris Lloyd kills his wife and her lover and runs. Hiding in a warehouse he finds a six-year-old boy, Robbie. The child has run from his foster parents and believes he accidentally started a fire. Neither of them can go back. Lloyd wants rid of him at first, and then takes him along. Together they head north from London toward Scotland, wanted across the country. The longer the road runs, the more something forms between them that neither expected. Charles Crichton directs this British film of eighty-four minutes, with Dirk Bogarde as Lloyd and Jon Whiteley as Robbie. Post-war England, grey, bombed and cold, is in every frame. Whiteley was six at the time, and he is the one carrying the film.
