What I Killed Einstein, Gentlemen Is About
After an atomic test a strange consequence appears in the world: beards start growing on women's faces and having children becomes impossible. The United Nations meets and a solution is found: a time machine will be built, the past will be visited, and Einstein will be killed. That way the atom bomb will never have been invented at all. Oldřich Lipský's Czechoslovak comedy uses science fiction entirely for the joke. What the film is really aiming at is not science but the people who take the decisions: international committees, experts, and the cast of mind that tries to solve every problem with a larger intervention. Lipský was among the most productive comedy directors in Czech cinema. The telling is fast and strains its own logic on purpose.
