Six Bears and a Clown

When the circus director decides to swap his trained bears for a rival circus’s trained pigs, the clown Cibulka is out of a job. The children arrange work for him at the primary school, though it means dressing as a woman and taking a post as the school cook. Things come apart when the escaped bears track him down to the school and an inspector turns up in town at the same time. Directed by Oldřich Lipský, who wrote it with Miloš Macourek, this family comedy has Lubomír Lipský in a double role. Jiří Sovák plays the headmaster, Miloš Kopecký and Jan Libíček the two circus directors, and František Filipovský the inspector. It won a Silver Whistle at the Gottwaldov children’s film festival in 1973 and a bronze medal in Moscow the same year.
