It Ain't Over

Sean Mullin's 2023 documentary is about the baseball player Yogi Berra. Berra won ten championships but was known publicly more for his odd turns of phrase. The argument is that this fame overshadowed the achievement. The narrative lays out the statistics and describes the work Berra did as a catcher; his granddaughter Lindsay Berra is the voice carrying that objection. Berra served at the front during the war, and that period is covered. Bob Costas and Derek Jeter speak. The documentary stands close to the family and is not critical. Who it's for: those who like baseball history and sports portraits. Who it's not for: viewers expecting distance; the documentary argues for its subject.
