It Takes a Lunatic

Wynn Handman taught acting for many years. He worked in New York. He began as an assistant to Sanford Meisner. Then he built a path of his own. He was one of the founders of the American Place Theatre. There he staged plays that broke with convention. He stood outside the Broadway mould. He opened doors for writers and for actors. The circle he built was made of people who had been kept out. A generation passed through his classes. Richard Gere is among his students. Michael Douglas and Alec Baldwin worked with him too. The documentary tells his life and the way he worked. Richard Gere and Michael Douglas speak in the hundred and twenty six minute documentary. It is an American, British and German co-production Billy Lyons finished in 2019.
