Joan of Paris

A Royal Air Force squadron is brought down over occupied France. The flyers make it to Paris, but the youngest of them, the one they call Baby, is injured. He has to be hidden and his wounds seen to. The Gestapo has already issued the order for their arrest in the city. The film was made while the war was still going on and openly takes a side. The risk run by the people who help them is as much the subject as the escape. The question of who can be trusted in an occupied city carries the story. Michèle Morgan and Paul Henreid take the leads, with Alan Ladd also in the cast. Robert Stevenson’s ninety one minute American film was completed in 1942.
