What Karma Is About
The senior police inspector Vishwa Pratap Singh arrests Dr Michael Dang, the head of an international organisation. To free him the group blows up the prison; a great many inmates are killed, among them two of Vishwa’s sons and his daughter in law, and Dang escapes. The man changes his name and takes on three prisoners under sentence of death, beginning to train them so that he can settle the account for his family. The film uses the crowded cast and the revenge mould that Indian cinema of the eighties liked, but it also gives room to the pasts of the three men. Dilip Kumar, Naseeruddin Shah and Anil Kapoor appear in Subhash Ghai’s hundred and ninety two minute film, completed in 1986.
