Hero

Jackie is a criminal with a score to settle against the local landowner and his policeman son, and the way he chooses to reach them is to abduct Radha, the family’s only daughter. The young woman is told that her house was raided by bandits and that the police have brought her to safety in the forest, and for a while she believes it. The closeness that grows up among the gang during those days in the forest turns into something else entirely once the truth comes out. The film uses the mould in which love changes a man; that it never questions the relation between the man who took her and the woman he took is what stands out most now. Jackie Shroff and Meenakshi Sheshadri appear in Subhash Ghai’s hundred and seventy three minute film, completed in 1983.
