What Key of Life Is About
Sakurai is an actor edging towards middle age who has never made it. At a bathhouse he sees a man slip, fall and lose his memory, so he swaps their locker keys and becomes that man. The difficulty is that the man is a professional killer. Meanwhile Kanae, a magazine editor, has decided to get married and drawn up a schedule for it. Three lives tangle together. Kenji Uchida directed; it runs two hours and the plotting works like clockwork. It was remade in Korea. There is violence, but the tone is comic, and it takes the identity-swap idea somewhere unexpected.
