On the frozen steppe of Mongolia a young herder comes up against his own fate after a plague takes the animals. The epidemic threatens to erase nomadic life altogether; families are moved off the land and resettled in mining towns, and an order that held for centuries falls apart within months. In their first feature Peter Brosens and Jessica Hope Woodworth join a documentary eye to the language of a fable, holding the white of the snow, the black of the coal and a shamanic intuition inside the same frame. It won the Lion of the Future at Venice.
