Khubsoorat

Nirmala Gupta rules her household with an iron hand. Most of the family resent it and comply all the same, doing their best to keep her happy. When her daughter in law’s free spirited sister comes to stay for a few days, everything in the house slowly begins to shift, and it disturbs Nirmala considerably. The film builds the conflict between rules and cheerfulness as comedy and declares nobody the enemy; it shows that the woman who set the rules of the house had her reasons too. Rekha and Dina Pathak appear in Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s hundred and twenty six minute Indian film, completed in 1980.
