What Big Big World Is About
Ali and Zuhal have not long left the orphanage where they grew up believing they were siblings. Ali repairs motorbikes and keeps turning up at the door of the family that adopted Zuhal, and is turned away every time. On the day he learns what is intended for her in that house, he forces the door and the two of them run. The forest they shelter in becomes a desert island for two children thrown outside the civilised world, and they have to begin everything from nothing. Reha Erdem uses nature not as scenery but as the only thing left that answers. It showed in the Horizons section at Venice in 2016.
