Kuningas Litmanen

The documentary is about the footballer Jari Litmanen and sets out to look at the side of him the public never saw. Its case is that people have never been able to see the modest and silent world inside him. The account gathers the stages of his career and also what those around him think of him. Teammates and supporters talk about football and about life alike. Zlatan Ibrahimović, Danny Blind and the de Boer brothers are among those speaking. What it means to call an athlete an artist is a matter of its own inside the account. Treating silence as a trait of character is the film’s marked choice. Arto Koskinen’s hundred and seven minute Finnish documentary was completed in 2012.
