What Life Is Beautiful Is About
Se-yeon learns that she is terminally ill and asks her husband for a strange last birthday present: to find her first love. Jin-bong agrees unwillingly and the two of them start travelling the length of the country. The brightest moments of their lives come back along the way, which shows that the film’s real subject is not the first love but the marriage. It is counted as the first jukebox musical in Korean cinema; the songs were not written for it, and well known numbers by Lee Moon-sae, Lee Seung-chul and Toy are staged instead. Choi Kook-hee directed and Bae Se-young wrote it. Yum Jung-ah plays Se-yeon and Ryu Seung-ryong plays Jin-bong, with Park Se-wan and Ong Seong-wu in the cast.
