What Lonely Hearts Is About

Peter is a piano tuner approaching fifty. He has just lost his mother. After her death he realises how alone he is. He wants to add something to his life. He signs up with an introduction agency. The agency introduces him to Patricia. Patricia is a bank clerk in her thirties. She is very timid. Her parents kept her under close watch for years. The two make an odd pair. Peter is showy and talkative. The bond between them grows during rehearsals for an amateur play. The more time they spend together the easier it gets. When Peter presses too hard, though, it falters. Wendy Hughes and Norman Kaye appear in the hundred and six minute film, an Australian production Paul Cox finished in 1982.
