Love Crime

In the Paris office of an international company, Christine is an executive and Isabelle a young woman working under her. Christine presents her subordinate's ideas as her own, then humiliates her in front of everyone, and applies this as a method of management. At a certain point Isabelle responds, and the response turns out to have been planned to perfection. Alain Corneau made his last film as a thriller about corporate hierarchy. In the second half it becomes entirely a mechanism and the audience only works out the plan piece by piece. Kristin Scott Thomas and Ludivine Sagnier star. Brian De Palma remade it as Passion. Who it is for: viewers who like cold corporate thrillers and stories built on a plan. Who it is not for: anyone expecting an emotional connection, since the film is deliberately distant.
