What Lullaby of Broadway Is About
Melinda Howard has been abroad singing with a musical troupe, and she decides to come home and surprise her mother, whom she believes to be a successful Broadway star with a Manhattan mansion. In fact her mother is a burnt out cabaret singer with a fondness for whiskey. The mansion belongs to Adolph Hubbell, a kind hearted Broadway producer, and when two servants who are friends of her mother take the girl in, the lie grows until the owner of the house is drawn into the charade himself. Hubbell takes a shine to Melinda and agrees to star her in his next show, where she also falls for a handsome hoofer. Everything is going well except the reunion her mother keeps postponing.
