Magical Sisters Yoyo & Nene

Nene and Yoyo live in a world where magic is an everyday trade, and they make their living from curse work. A huge tree suddenly grows up in the forest, with the buildings of another world caught in its branches. The two sisters go there and find themselves in our world. The parents of the two children they meet have turned into monsters. Takayuki Hirao's anime is adapted from a manga. Nene, the elder, is a first-rate sorceress; little Yoyo is not much good at it yet, and what the film is really about is the two of them holding on to each other. The visual design deliberately keeps the two worlds apart. The telling is fast, there is plenty of comedy and the audience is children; even so it touches on family, loss and growing up.
